Multiple Regression Data Matrices Guidelines

  1. Prepare a Target Folder C:\Regress in the root directory of your computer hard drive - the path should read C:\Regress.

  2. Download the Excel version of the Results for Periods 1 to 11. (1) Login to CODES with your team ID and password. (2) Select View Results. (3) Select Period 1. (4) Select Excel version. (5) Right-click the (output file) link. (6) Save the output file (link) in the C:\Regress directory. Repeat steps 1 to 6 for periods 2 through 11.

  3. Rename the downloaded files as 1.xls, 2.xls, 3.xls, 4.xls,... where 1,2,3,4,... correspond to the period numbers.
Caution: Change only the file name to 1,2,3,...11. Do not alter the file extension (.xls)

  4. Download the Matrices.xls file from the course homepage. (1) Visit the course homepage. (2) Right-click the Multiple Regression Data Matrices link. (3) Save the file Matrices.xls to the C:\Regress directory.

  5. Generate data matrices for all 9 SBUs In Windows Explorer, (1) open the Regress folder on the C:\ drive, and (2) double-click the Matrices.xls file. (3) Click OK approximately a dozen times on the dialog screens that appear in order to update the workbook data with your team's data. The tabs for each SBU Multiple Regression data matrix are at the bottom of the Excel screen.

  6. Make a duplicate copy of the lower (unprotected) data matrix on each worksheet with the Copy - Paste Special - select Paste Values option - for (a) descriptive statistics, (b) correlation analysis, and (c) multiple regression analysis.

If the competition has only reached Period 9, make two additional copies of the 9.xls file. Rename one copy 10.xls and the other copy 11.xls.
