Category Description
Posting replies Post reply on top of relevant quotes from previous message.
Reading messages Click [index, by date] link to quickly see most recent messages.
Then, click [index, by thread] link to sort messages by topic and follow a specific discussion thread.
Navigating To avoid repeated use of previous/next buttons when going through the messages
  • leave the main window open for each message that you want to read
  • right-click on the message link
  • choose Open Link from the context menu that appears
Then, read any message without losing track of the main page.

Reply to a specific message from the new window.
When you post your reply, this new window will refresh to show the updated list of messages.
Then, close the old main window and use this window as your new main window.

  • Formatting Message Use the "pre" tag on the first line before you start to post each message.
This prevents wrapping of posts due to the presence of HTML tags.
You can use Carriage Returns [Enter key], Tabs etc. in your posts.
Other HTML tags still work within the "pre" tag.
Fixed width fonts are somewhat easier to read.
    Formatting Tags Text formatting tags:
  • Italics
  • Bold
  • Avoid use of the underline tag, as it may be confused with a live hyperlink, like in this bullet.

    Paragraph formatting tags:

  • Use the "pre" tag at the start of each post to avoid use of any paragraph formatting tags.
  • To post in HTML, you will need to know paragraph formatting tags:
  • The "p" tag sets up a new paragraph with an empty line break
  • The "br" tag is the equivalent of one Carriage Return
Pure HTML posts may get messed up. Hence, it is advisable to use the "pre" tag to avoid tau tong!

    Hyperlink tags:

  • A hyperlink can be created with the following tag:
  • Netscape link
While clicking on the hyperlink takes you to a new website (away from BoardRoom),
use the target=NewWindow option, so that clicking on it opens the link in a new window!
  • Netscape link
  • Commonly used abbreviations
  • BTW - By the way
  • IMO - In my opinion
  • IMHO - In my humble opinion
  • FWIW - For what it's worth
  • OTOH - On the other hand
  • RTFM - Read the (fine) manual
  • LOL - Laughing out loud
  • ROTFLOL - Rolling on the flool laughing out loud
  • YMMV - Your mileage may vary
  • AFAIK - As far as I know
  • TID - Thread is deteriorating!
This is inserted in the subject line of the thread when you find that the thread is getting out of context, but you still wish to add your say to it! Not usually advisable to do so. The [TID] signals that you don't have to read that post if you don't want to, because it's of no practical value to the discussion of the thread.
